| Happy New Year! And Welcome to 2009 . . . another chance for a "new beginning" for us all. Sticking with the Tarot/Numerology system I teach, 2009 will be a year we will globally be experiencing an "11" or "Strength" (Tarot - Major Arcana) year. For those of you who have Tarot decks, or for many of you with Tarot knowledge, I have decided to stick with the "11" as "Strength", following the original numbering system of the Tarot's Major Arcana, dating back to the 1400's; instead of following Arthur Edward Waite's (Rider-Waite Tarot, 1910) style, of "Justice" being the 11 and Strength being the 8. Strength as the 11, is also the style of the popular French Marseilles decks, dating back to the 1700's and the numbering style of my favorite deck, The Thoth Deck. I feel more connected to the early historical numbering style and feel it more accurately and energetically depicts the new year ahead. After the chaotic "Wheel of Fortune - 10" year we all experienced in 2008, we are going to need to settle in and weed through the often unexpected information and events of the last year. In 2009, we need to ask ourselves some crucial questions. "Is your heart in what you are doing"? "What are you passionately connected to in your life"? 2009 ultimately, is a year to direct your passions and follow what makes your heart sing. Many of us had to make some very drastic changes over 2008. Many of us had to simplify, cut back, streamline . . . and for many of us this was not a comfortable thing to do. But, that's what 2008 was supposed to be about . . . change. No matter how difficult or uncomfortable change is, it is inevitable, and with it brings new opportunities and a chance for authenticity. With this change, comes an opportunity to follow your heart and learn to truly appreciate what's really important. If we let go of outcome (i.e. control) and instead, become open to outcome, the new opportunities will line right up. In order to see the new opportunities, you will have to look beyond yourself; you must believe in yourself without having to control, dominate or project onto others. I truly believe at this time in our history, we have drastically gotten off track, on a deep spiritual level. The only way we will have a real chance of finding our way back is by picking ourselves up amidst the fallout of 2008 from a place of great inner Strength. With that being said, it doesn't mean we will be starting 2009 with immediate change. Unfortunately, it isn't going to happen that quickly. We have some clean up to do . . . transition. 2009 is a pivotal point in time for us all to move forward propelled by our hearts instead of excess, greed, control or fear. It's a time to control unhealthy desires and urges within ourselves from a place of self-discipline, patience and inner peace. It's a year to build Strength from the inside . . . Stength of character. 2009 is a time to discover what's really important to you. Without your passion and inner Strength, it will be hard to endure the challenges that began in 2008. We are all going to need courage and perseverance to keep moving forward through this. We are going to need to deal with our own fears instead of projecting them onto other people or trying to control or force changes to happen faster then they are able. We are all ready for a new beginning; we are all ready for the economic and political climate to change; but, we can't use fear or force to make it happen faster . . . one authentic step at a time. 2009 is a year to practice patience and good inner balance by balancing your needs with the needs of others. Inner Strength will be needed, and you find that in your heart. With Strength, also comes great passion and expression of that passion. It's the perfect year to direct that energy towards a meaningful project. What makes your heart sing? What makes you want to express it? How will you express it in a meaningful way? How will you make a difference? 2009 is also a great year to rediscover the passion and sensual pleasures in your relationships. It's a time to reconnect on a deep and more meaningful level after all the stress of 2008. Many of our relationships struggled and took a back seat to the stress of 2008. It's time to reconnect from a place of heart and meaning. Make sure the important people in your life know how you feel about them and how grateful you are to have them in your life. If you look at the Strength card in your Tarot deck, many of you will find a picture depicting a woman and a lion. In most pictures, she has the lion on a leash of some sort, which most of the time is quite loose or sometimes not even being held. The message being, she has tamed her own inner beast and gets the lion to follow her with love and patience, from a place of authenticity, deep in her heart . . . no force, fear tactics or control is needed. The woman is depicted as unafraid, peaceful, smiling or passionate, which shows she has tamed her own inner beast and is expressing her inner Strength by having the courage and confidence to be her authentic self. As we all navigate through the fallout of 2008, moving towards our personal and global new beginnings, remember, you do have everything you need . . . take a good look around you. Even if you feel you have lost in 2008, which many of us do, you have what truly matters. With inner Strength, love and patience, I ask you to take another look around you . . . . look at what has heart and meaning in your life (and it's not things or money); find your passion; be present; be truthful; be the best person you know how to be . . . and let go of the what you think the outcome should be . . . . because guess what? That's not how the story was gonna turn out anyway . . . With Love & Magic . . . Blessed Be You All In 2009! Raven |
